The descent of the birth
The Billiken was said to be created by the Ms.Florence Pretz,
Kansas City,Missouri, in 1908.
After the acquirement of the contest for the student of art, she registered the patent and the items of the Billiken were sold in 1909. The Billiken Company at the Chicago took notice of its popularity. They bought out of license from her and sold in a large scale.

Descent of the name
  One story says, the Billiken kooks like the 27th president of United States, who assumed in 1909, William Howard Taft. Therefore, name of Billiken was combined "Billy" with "ken" that is a suffix of meaning small.
Got famous by the premier movie
  The Billiken got famous by the movie "Wterloo Bridge" played by Robert Taylor and Vivien Leigh.
In the story, the britain officer, played by Robert Taylor was handed a Billiken asa a Lucky charm by the dancer, played by Vivien Leigh.
His convoy had been reported to be completely destroyed, but the officer was returned miraculously.
With such as story, the Billiken as a wishing charm decame more popular all over the world.
